Learn to protect people and property with a 16-hour, two-day course that includes four hours of handgun range time with qualifications testing. Class topics include the legal powers and limitations of a security guard, emergency procedures, general duties, firearm handling, safety and maintenance, marksmanship training, legal limitations on the use of a firearm and patrolling.
The class includes the written certification test.
All books and written materials are provided. Participants must provide their own firearms and ammunition. There is an $8 range fee payable to the range at the time of the class.
Participants pay any additional fees required by the state of Tennessee.
This two-day training is scheduled Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, 8:30a.m. - 5 p.m. both days at the Pellissippi State Community College Hardin Valley Campus. Parking on campus is free.

Pellissippi State offers armed and unarmed security guard certification and recertification courses. These classes are required by the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance to be employed as a trained security guard. Classes include the materials for Tennessee Protective Services.
